Miguel Muniz – What a Thing

We live in a paradox served by symbols and codes that we need to read and interpret. Much of this helps to create awareness and makes us follow paths that we believe to be right. Once again, through the fragmentation of words, transforming two-dimensional text into a three-dimensional work, placing the viewer in front of a symbol of geek culture, but with the dialogue between the piece and the base, some possibilities of interpretation arise. In our culture, both the gesture and the action remind us of the practices contained in our daily lives and the viewer needs to connect the image with their cognitive repertoire so that possible interpretations emerge. The gesture does not end with itself, but opens the eye to its final function, which is not just to deceive the eye with the gesture explicit in its form, but to exercise the act of interpretation. “What a thing” just as it can be something good at the same time it may not be.
